Newcastle United remain in limbo - contrary to reports - over a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.
Newcastle United are yet to be informed their move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko is off.
Widespread reports claim the Slovenian forward has chosen Manchester United, and he may well have, after they lodged a bid yesterday - however, the Magpies haven't been given any decision by the player, his agent or his club. Newcastle are understood to already be eyeing their next moves in the market, having accepted that the player seems likely to go to Old Trafford.
But the fact that is yet to be communicated to Newcastle calls into question the conduct and integrity of those around the deal. Slovenian media initially reported the Magpies as being the front-runners although, as mentioned, the situation remains in limbo.
Alexander Isak impact
Landing the 22-year-old for a club-record fee would impact the chances of Isak leaving dramatically. As NewcastleWorld reported earlier today, the Swede did not train with his Toon teammates, who also enjoyed a celebratory function with families at the training ground.
Isak is expected to attend the club’s Benton base this evening to undergo individual training - as he did on Monday and Tuesday. Logically, if Newcastle find a potential replacement, Eddie Howe and the Toon hierarchy would be more accepting of his desire to join Liverpool.
The Reds tabled an offer worth £110million at the weekend - a figure deemed "derisory" by St James’ Park chiefs. Newcastle are likely to continue their hardball stance over Isak should they fail to sign a top-level striker.
When do Newcastle United want an answer from Benjamin Sesko?
As Leipzig mull over the two offers, Sesko is still deciding on his future. It’s understood the Magpies want a final answer imminently, or they will consider moving to other targets.

Howe did that with Isak, who has 62 goals in 109 appearances for Newcastle. That is despite the Swede scoring just six goals in his final season at Real Sociedad before moving to the Magpies.
