The former Hearts kid has twice undergone surgery on the issue.
Hickey was expected to return to fitness last season following the injury picked up during a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

However, a setback in August last year meant that a second operation was required to correct the problem.
Hickey returned to training in February earlier this year, but the club were cautious not to rush him back.
He waited until May before he was included in a matchday squad again.
Recently, he played in Brentford's pre-season friendly matches against Gil Vicente and QPR as he stepped up his minutes ahead of the big Premier League kick-off mid-month.
Recently, he said: “It feels amazing to be back out there with the boys.
“It’s been very difficult, but thankfully I’m now back playing. I’m just looking forward to the season now.”
