Kevon Looney just signed a contract with the New Orleans Pelicans and is ready to get started helping that team return to prominence in the Western Conference.
Looney has made his choice about a team, and now he has also made a decision about his jersey.
According to Etienne Catalan, Looney will wear No. 55 for the Pelicans.
That number was last used by Trey Jemison III in 2025.

Looney spent the first ten years of his career with the Golden State Warriors.
But this summer, he felt it was time to move on.
Looney has said that the team didn’t have space for him, and that certainly seemed to be the case.
Even during the high-stakes playoffs, Looney wasn’t on the court as much as he wanted, and head coach Steve Kerr regularly chose Quinten Post instead of him.
He played only an average of 10.0 minutes per game during the postseason in 2024-25, posting 2.2 points and 3.6 rebounds.
Now that he will be with the Pelicans, he has a chance at a lot of minutes and more responsibilities.
Of course, this is a team that is a long way off from being truly competitive.
They went through a nightmare season, and they are trying to turn things around and get back on track.
Can Looney help with that?
Looney has never been a hugely consequential big man during his seasons with the Warriors, but he has always had to share his time with others, too.
The situation might be different, and better, for Looney in New Orleans.
