Newcastle United transfer target Benjamin Sesko continues to train alone at RB Leipzig amid ongoing speculation over his future.

Sesko is the top centre-forward target for Newcastle and Manchester United. It's understood that Ruben Amorim's side are confident that the striker prefers a move to Old Trafford.

The Athletic reported on Wednesday that United remain in talks with Leipzig to finalise a deal. A bid worth €75million (£65.3m) plus €10m (£8.7m) in add-ons has been tabled by the Magpies' Premier League rivals.

Newcastle have also submitted a bid for the 22-year-old but it's believed that Sesko's preference is a move to Man United. This week, the player has trained away from his teammates while talks continue and Leipzig have confirmed that that has continued.

In a short statement, they wrote: "Wednesday squad update: Andrija Msakisimovic is back in Leipzig, but is training individually today. Benjamin Sesko and Lukas Klostermann are also working individually."

Sesko netted 21 goals in all competitions last season for Leipzig and has scored 39 goals in 87 appearances since moving from RB Salzburg in 2023.

After missing out on Bryan Mbeumo, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap this summer, Newcastle are facing another blow in adding to Eddie Howe's side ahead of the start of the Premier League season.

Ollie Watkins, Yoanne Wissa and Nicolas Jackson have all been recently linked with strengthening Newcastle’s forward line. There is also the ongoing uncertainty of Alexander Isak’s future, which could force the Magpies to spend huge on a striker.
