Newcastle United have given the nod to Liverpool for a second bid for Alexander Isak after their failed £110m bid last week with the Reds set to take a major step in what has beeen a drawn out saga so far.
After the Anfield club had their bid rebuffed, Fabrizio Romano reported that they made the bid knowing it would be turned down with the intention to signal to Isak that they were capable and ready to sign him.
Until now, Newcastle have been scouring the market to find a replacement as they were unwilling to sell the forward before sourcing the striker to take his place but their inability to agree deals for Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and now Benjamin Sesko has forced Liverpool to wait.
However, with few appropriate replacements left, Newcastle’s stance seems to have shifted with reports that Liverpool have been encouraged to submit a second offer.
Liverpool “have had every encouragement” to submit second bid for Alexander Isak after failed £110m initial bid
According to the Chronicle’s Newcastle United correspondent Lee Ryder, Liverpool have received the nod from the Toon to proceed with a second bid for Isak with the inference that it will be considered whereas the first was not.
He added: “The money is all well and good butNUFC have struggled to get deals done. Huge couple of weeks ahead.”

Newcastle rejected Liverpool’s first bid of £110m out of hand but with them now encouraging them to submit another one, it looks as though a breakthrough in this drawn out saga will soon be forthcoming.
Isak returned to training today but with the Newcastle squad having a family day at the grounds, he is training alone amid the speculation.
In the Chronicle, Ryder writes: “His omission arguably sparks bigger concerns that his future on Tyneside is looking ominous again.
“The club confirmed today that Howe will hold a barbecue for player families and staff but a claim from Sky Sports suggested that Isak will head to the training ground after the social event.”

Isak scored 23 Premier League goals last season and the thought of him combining with top scorer and top assister Mohamed Salah is frightening indeed. With Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike already bedded in with the squad, Arne Slot will has positioned himself as the strong favourite to lead his club to the title next season.
The next two weeks are hugely exciting with the Community Shield Final and the opening day of the Premier League season headlining the next two weekends.
