Watch as Alexander Isak returns to Newcastle United training amid Liverpool interest

Alexander Isak returned to training later - as expected - than his Newcastle United teammates.

Alexander Isak has been snapped returning to Newcastle United’s base amid the ongoing Liverpool interest.

As reported by NewcastleWorld earlier, the Swede stayed at home as his teammates trained ahead of the pre-season double-header this weekend. Toon stars came back from Asia on Monday, with Isak undertaking individual sessions while his future remains uncertain.

Eddie Howe also organised a function for the players and their families at the club’s Benton hub following their return from South Korea. Isak did not attend this event but it is understood he was always expected to train later than the rest of the first-team squad.

The striker jetted to former club Real Sociedad - nursing a supposed thigh injury - as Newcastle faced Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and a K-League XI in the Far East. Following the trip, Howe told the media that the 25-year-old he needs to “earn the right” to be reintegrated to the Toon setup.

Dozens of fans waited for the Swede as he made his way into training this evening. As one would expect, he did not stick around to greet supporters.

Eddie Howe on Alexander Isak

Howe sent a strong message to Isak while speaking to reporters in South Korea. He told the Daily Mail: “You have to earn the right to train with us.

"We are Newcastle United. The player has a responsibility here to be part of a team and part of a squad - you have to act in the right way. So that is also at play here. We will make sure that any player does that to earn the right to train with the group.”

In other news, Newcastle have made a huge power play in recent days to sign Benjamin Sesko. Two offers have been submitted - the highest worth around €90million.

However, Manchester United have also entered the race with an offer slightly lower than the Magpies. Conflicting information in recent days has emerged on which club Sesko would prefer to join.

Slovenian media indicated Newcastle were the front-runners last week. However, noises since Man United made a formal bid have not been as positive.

Ultimately, the Magpies remain on tenterhooks as they wait for Sesko to give his final decision. An outcome either way would likely impact Isak’s future at Newcastle.
