The Miami Dolphins are under a lot of pressure to get back to the playoffs in 2025. After missing the playoffs in 2024, the Dolphins appear to be off to a rocky start in training camp.

Head coach Mike McDaniel has spoken to the media as of late about the relationship between quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver Tyreek Hill. McDaniel is also on the hot seat to begin the 2025 NFL season. Another thing that the Dolphins are banking on is the health of Tua. If he does get injured again, does rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers deserve a shot to start for this football team?
CBS Sports Analyst Thinks That Rookie Quarterback Quinn Ewers Could Potentially Start For the Miami Dolphins In 2025

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports listed five potential names who could potentially start a game or more during the 2025 NFL season that may not be a Week 1 starter. One name to potentially watch out for is Ewers on the Dolphins. Benjamin said,
“Miami addressed the backup quarterback spot by signing former New York Jets castoff Zach Wilson, whose first-round arm has drawn positive reviews from Dolphins staffers. But let’s say starter Tua Tagovailoa goes down, which unfortunately feels like a distinct possibility given his concerning medical track record. Are we sure Wilson will be guaranteed an indefinite first-team gig? Ewers, the former Texas star who landed in Miami as a seventh-round pick, has enjoyed what some media have dubbed a mostly “error-free” camp under coach Mike McDaniel. His swagger just might convince the Dolphins he’s worth a true look.”
A lot of people already know what Wilson can do at the NFL level. He did not pan out well when he was with the Jets. This is probably why the Dolphins would maybe turn to Ewers potentially for a start or two if Tagovailoa were to get injured. Apparently, Ewers is having a very good training camp for Miami.
There is a chance that Ewers and Wilson could be battling out it anyways in training camp anyways to be the backup quarterback to Tua. Hopefully, Miami doesn’t have to start either of those quarterbacks at any point during the 2025 NFL season. If Tagovailoa suffers another concussion, he should never play another down in the NFL again and just let Ewers see what he has in the tank.
