This summer has seen significant changes at the Emirates, with key additions in areas of need and several departures as Mikel Arteta reshapes his squad in pursuit of silverware after narrowly missing out on the league title for a third consecutive year.

Following the exits of senior players such as Thomas Partey and Jorginho, another name appears set to leave North London. Midfielder Fábio Vieira, deemed surplus to requirements under Arteta, is reportedly closing in on a move away from the club.

According to journalist Nico Schira, Arsenal are demanding around £30 million for the Portuguese midfielder, with Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart opening talks over a permanent deal.

Vieira, 25, spent last season on loan at FC Porto, where he featured regularly and helped the team finish third in the Primeira Liga. His performances in Portugal, including key goals and creative contributions have reignited interest in his services, with Stuttgart now keen to secure him on a long-term basis.

Since arriving at Arsenal in 2022 for €35 million plus €5 million in add-ons, Vieira has struggled for regular minutes, making only a handful of Premier League starts. Despite his technical quality, he failed to establish himself as a first-team regular, leading to his loan spell back at Porto.

With two years remaining on his Arsenal contract, the Gunners are expected to push for a respectable fee. Stuttgart’s move reflects a growing trend of Bundesliga clubs targeting Premier League players, capitalising on their ability to develop talent and offer consistent playing time.

Should the deal go through, it would mark another step in Arsenal’s ongoing squad overhaul as Arteta continues to build a team capable of ending their long wait for a league title.
