REPORT: Tottenham To Rival Arsenal For £61m Attacker As They Look To Replace Heung-Min Son

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to rival Arsenal for a transfer target this summer, who is an alternative to Eberechi Eze and Rodrygo.

It feels as we get further into August, that Arsenal’s summer transfer business is close to being done. They have added Martin Zubimendi to solidify the midfield, and they added Noni Madueke and Christian Norgaard to bring depth.

Furthermore, they finally signed a number nine, by bringing in Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP. Mikel Arteta will hope that the Swedish striker will finally bring them a reliable goal-scorer up top.

However, the one position that the Gunners likely want to improve still is the left-wing spot, as they want someone who can challenge Gabriel Martinelli for the first team spot.

They have been heavily linked with Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, and are expected to make a bid for the England international. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is also an option, but he is likely to cost more money, and Arsenal would likely need a sale before they can land him. There is also an alternative, but rivals Tottenham are eyeing him up…

Tottenham to rival Arsenal for Rafael Leao

Another winger option for the Gunners is AC Milan forward Rafael Leao, who impressed in the Serie A last year, despite Milan’s less than stellar season. The Portuguese international made 50 appearances for Milan, scoring 12 goals, and providing 13 assists.

However, according to a report by GiveMeSport, Tottenham have registered a ‘genuine’ interest in Leao, as they view him as one of their potential top targets to replace Heung Min Son, who looks set to join MLS side LAFC.

Leao has a market value of around £61m, making him cheaper than both Eze (£68m), and Rodrygo (£80m+), making him a very attractive signing for both Arsenal and Spurs. Furthermore, Leao is in his prime at the age of 26, and is more of a physical player than both the alternatives. It may be a good idea for Arsenal to step up their interest to avoid their bitter rivals landing the Portuguese attacker.
