The Atlanta Falcons will have a new starting quarterback this season.
It’s Michael Penix Jr. from the start, and there are reasons to be excited.
Asked about the offense, the second-year pro praised his teammates.
“The skill level is there. It’s about making it happen now. Nothing should stop us from being the best offense in the league,” Penix said, via NFL on CBS.

The Falcons arguably have had one of the most stacked offensive rosters in the NFL.
Yet, despite having offensive-minded head coach Arthur Smith, that didn’t do much to help their cause.
Then, the first year under Raheem Morris was hurt by Kirk Cousins’ inefficiency.
Now, there’s no more room for excuses.
This will be a make-or-break season for Kyle Pitts, who entered the league as perhaps the most promising tight end prospect in NFL history but has yet to live up to the hype.
Plenty of that had to do with Smith’s refusal to use him more often as a pass catcher, but Pitts didn’t look much better last season either.
Wide receiver Drake London is one of the most underrated players in the league, and he’s shown what he’s capable of as a mismatch in the open field.
As for Bijan Robinson, he’s the ultimate dual-threat running back and someone who could easily lead the league in scrimmage touchdowns and have a Christian McCaffrey-type season if used properly.
Penix’s arm talent is impressive, and while there will always be some injury concerns, the Falcons’ offense looks tailor-made for his skills.
He has the weapons and the confidence. Now he has to produce the results.
