Members of the Brighton & Hove Albion squad have been caught on camera jubilantly celebrating the victory of their star racehorse at Glorious Goodwood. The horse, Seagulls Eleven, is owned by a syndicate named Two Plus Three Two Plus Four, which consists of current and former members of the Premier League team.
The ownership group, led by James Milner, includes Danny Welbeck, Lewis Dunk, Jason Steele, Pascal Gross and Billy Gilmour, totalling 11 members. The three-year-old horse, sporting Brighton's blue and white stripes, is trained by Hugo Palmer at the Manor House Stables in Cheshire, owned by ex-Liverpool and England striker Michael Owen.
Seagulls Eleven recently achieved his greatest success to date by winning the Group 3 Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes. Last year, he competed in the Breeders' Cup in the US and also took connections to the 2,000 Guineas and Royal Ascot in 2025.
Despite being unable to attend the victory due to pre-season training, a video of the Brighton squad watching the race has been shared on Owen's Manor House Stables account. In the footage, Milner, Welbeck, Dunk and their teammates are seen gathered around a large screen, becoming increasingly animated as the race reaches its peak.
As the gelding, ridden by Oisin Murphy, nears the finish line with the race seemingly won, they erupt into celebration. The caption accompanying the video, which was shared on Owen's Instagram story, read: "The feeling of being a Manor House Stables winning owner. Massive congratulations to the Two Plus Three Two Plus Four syndicate, who cheered home their fantastic Group 3 winner Seagulls Eleven."
Seagulls Eleven may be poised for another global outing with Palmer eyeing the lucrative £5million Golden Eagle in Sydney, Australia, later this year.
Palmer remarked: "We probably over-faced Seagulls Eleven a bit last year – he danced some pretty big dances – but he is a very generous horse and they weren't getting past him. He is quite a handful and not an easy horse to train – gelding him has made a bit of a difference.
"Seagulls Eleven has taken us all around the world and I don't think we are done yet. The Golden Eagle in Sydney has already been mentioned and why not? It is a A$10m dollar race. Where can you say that in England?".
