£17M price tag revealed as Leeds United set to pursue deal for England U21 star

Leeds United know that they are heading into next season a little bit light up top. The same attack that finished last season will not be the same group that will start this season.

Lukas Nmecha has been the only major addition to the squad this summer. Leeds signed the forward on a free transfer from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. Nmecha has had decent outings in pre-season, but it is clear he will only be a rotational player from the team.

One player that will certainly be a big miss is Manor Solomon. Last season, the Spurs loanee was one of the most productive players in the team outside Joel Piroe. Leeds have yet to sign another attacker, with Daniel Farke even complaining that the club have done nothing to replace Solomon this summer:

“Offensive-wise, if we are really honest, we have lost one of our main threats of the offence with Manor Solomon.

“Didn’t have many additions so far from then, if I am really honest. Then, you don’t have players like Dan James who’s important for us. Jack Harrison is not available due to injury.

“When they are not available, then of course, it’s a bit thin the offence. We know what we have to do and what we need.”

Per reports, the club have already missed out on two major targets. Igor Paixao chose a move to France over joining the newly promoted Premier League side. Graham Smyth also revealed that the alternative to Paixao, Ristu Doan, will also be moving elsewhere this summer.

According to TEAMtalk, Leeds are now set to focus their attention on Marseille star Jonathan Rowe. The Whites have had interest in the Marseille winger, who could return to England just over a year after leaving Norwich. It is believed that a fee around £17million would be enough to sign the England U21 international this summer.

No official contact has been made by Leeds, but there is a lot of interest from across Europe for the winger this summer.

Jonathan Rowe would be a good fit for Leeds

Rowe is still young, and has immense quality. But with Marseille signings a few big names, he will slide down the pecking order. If Leeds can convince him to return to England, they would be getting a bargain.

The forward can play on the left, right and even through the middle. Daniel Farke would be excited to have an option like him.
