A key former Manchester United man dropped the biggest – and clearest – verdict on RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko ahead of the Red Devils’ move for the player.
Manchester United entered the race to sign Benjamin Sesko and the Red Devils are on the verge of hijacking Newcastle’s transfer for the 22-year-old Slovenian forward.
The Red Devils ramped up their interest in the former Arsenal target after United tabled a bid for Sesko to RB Leipzig amid their pursuit of a new striker.
United’s approach was made on Tuesday and the Red Devils prepared a package worth up to £73.8m, with an initial payment of £65.2m to Leipzig for Sesko.
Leipzig have also seen Newcastle intensify their interest in Sesko and the Magpies made an improved bid of £69.5m and further add-ons on Monday for the player.

Former Man Utd interim manager Ralf Rangnick spotted exactly what RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko can offer on the pitch
Newcastle’s initial approach for Manchester United-linked Benjamin Sesko was rejected last week after they offered a fee of £65.4m and £4.3m in add-ons.

Sesko is believed to be interested in United more than a move to Newcastle and the Slovenia international could soon leave RB Leipzig and finally arrive at Old Trafford.
Ralf Rangnick, who is the head coach of Austria, revealed his true feelings on the Leipzig ace ahead of crossing paths with him in a Nations League match in 2024.
The 67-year-old ex-United interim boss singled out Sesko from the entire Slovenia national team and labelled him an “outstanding individual player” for his country.
“They [Slovenia] didn’t concede a single goal from open play at the European Championship [Euro 2024], only one from a corner and one from a throw-in,” Ralf Rangnick said last September, as per the Manchester Evening News.
“You can see how difficult it is to create chances and score goals against them.
“This is a compact, close-knit team with an outstanding individual player in Benjamin Sesko.
“We have to try to play fast, bring in changes of rhythm, and defend as well as we can so that we don’t concede a goal ourselves.”

Ralf Rangnick’s praise for RB Leipzig ace Benjamin Sesko shows why Man Utd must land him for Ruben Amorim
Ruben Amorim is in need of a new striking option after the respective underwhelming impacts of both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund last season.
The 40-year-old United manager needs a forward who can hold the frontline on his own in his tactical system and not look out of place during a match under him.
Sesko has deeply impressed at Leipzig and Ralf Rangnick’s endorsement of the Slovenian talent further amplifies his ability to thrive under Ruben Amorim at United.
Rangnick only namechecked Sesko ahead of Austria’s Nations League encounter with Slovenia and it’s an eye-opening assessment of the Newcastle target’s influence.
The Austria boss has usually seen his comments unearthed from his United interim spell after how much they still resonate to this day about the state of the Red Devils.
United fans could once again do the same thing with Rangnick’s words if the Red Devils land the Leipzig ace Sesko and Amorim unlocks the striker’s full potential.
