'Here we go' - Fabrizio Romano: Liverpool agree £46m+ deal to sell Nunez to Al Hilal

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is set to join Saudi side Al Hilal in a permanent transfer after a total agreement was found between all parties, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds have been looking to move the Uruguay international on all summer, after he struggled to break into Arne Slot's thinking during the 2024/25 season, as the club lifted the Premier League title following a stellar campaign.

The former Benfica man is now set to make the move to the Middle East after the two clubs agreed terms for a deal and he agreed to a three-year deal with the Saudi club.

Nunez had been heavily linked with a move to join Serie A giants Napoli but they failed to find an agreement with the Premier League champions, and that opened the door for Nunez to move elsewhere.

Now Al Hilal have agreed a deal worth £46m plus add-ons with Liverpool, while Nunez himself has agreed a three-year deal to link up with Ruben Neves, Kalidou Koulibaly, Joao Cancelo and Marcos Leonardo. The player is now set to travel for a medical, before a deal will be formally announced.

Liverpool have had a busy summer transfer window so far with the additions of Giorgio Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, while the club are also exploring a deal to bring in Newcastle United star Alexander Isak.

Those attacking additions have seen Nunez fall down the pecking order and Slot is happy to let him move on before the start of the Premier League season.

The 26-year-old scored 40 goals in 143 appearances for Liverpool after joining from Benfica in a deal worth €100m (£86m) including add-ons.
