Aaron Rodgers does not hold back on struggling receiver

The Pittsburgh Steelers, much like last season, are in desperate need of production at the wide receiver spot. The Steelers traded franchise wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys this offseason.

The move was offset somewhat by the acquisition of former Seattle Seahawks standout DK Metcalf, but Pittsburgh is in desperate need of depth behind him. The Steelers drafted Roman Wilson out of the University of Michigan last year, but injuries prevented him from contributing in any significant way in his rookie campaign.

Now, Wilson is healthy, but has struggled to remain consistent on the field. New Steelers head coach Aaron Rodgers is talking about what the young wideout needs to do to find his footing as a professional.

“I need to get Roman out of his own head a bit. He cares so much about whether it’s my approval or he’s doing it right. He’s just got to trust himself because he’s so damn talented,” Rodgers said, according to JPA Football.

Fans reacte to Rodgers’ words on social media.

“He actually may be one of the biggest sleepers out there,” one fan wrote about Wilson on Twitter.

“Average Michigan player can’t survive in the NFL,” another fan added.

“Bad teammate hates young players tho I was told,” someone else wrote.

It’ll be interesting to see if Rodgers and Wilson can find a connection this season.
