Manchester United could look to land one of Europe's highest-scoring forwards in the remaining weeks of the transfer window, according to reports - with Benfica star Vangelis Pavlidis being in their sights to bolster their frontline should they fail to land RB Leipzig sensation Benjamin Sesko after a bid was submitted for the Slovenian on Tuesday.
United have been locking horns with Newcastle United for Sesko's signature for the past fortnight, with Eddie Howe's side appearing to have stolen a march in the race to land the Slovenian wonderkid. However, despite the player's preference now being a move to Old Trafford, reports have stated that he could also bring in Pavlidis to lead the line should a deal fall through.

The 'powerful' Benfica star, alongside Porto's Samu Aghehowa, has found his way onto the Red Devils' shortlist as United weigh up a potential move for the Greek striker.
Pavlidis scored 30 goals last season after joining from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, with 19 of those coming in the top-flight as Benfica finished second behind rivals Sporting - and having put a double past England in Greece's 2-1 shock win at Wembley in the Nations League back in October, fans will know what he's about after showcasing his deadly finishing at the national stadium.
A natural goalscorer, Pavlidis has reached double figures in the league in each of his campaigns since the 2019-20 campaign for Eredivisie outfit Willem II, AZ Alkmaar and Benfica, and he even scored in this season's Portuguese Super Cup as they downed Sporting to take home the acclaim last Thursday.
Although United look to be closing in on a move for Sesko, Pavlidis may even still join if Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee find different clubs after sub-par performances in the Premier League last season and at the age of just 26, there is time for him to develop in England should a move materialise in the remaining weeks of the summer window.
