Chelsea target Marc Guehi has chosen next club as Crystal Palace name asking price - journalist

Crystal Palace defender and former Chelsea player Marc Guehi is one of the most in-demand footballers in the Premier League right now.

Several teams are interested in Guehi, including Chelsea, who sold their academy product to Palace back in 2021.

Since then, Guehi has grown into a top centre-half, which is why so many sides are currently showing interest in him.

And it looks like the England international has decided which club he wants to join this summer.

Marc Guehi wants Liverpool move

Chelsea have some convincing to do if they are planning on signing Guehi in this transfer window.

His price tag should not be a problem, with Palace demanding just £40m for him, according to journalist Ed Aarons.

However, Aarons has also reported that Liverpool are his preferred option. With his contract expiring next year, there is also a possibility of Guehi remaining at Selhurst Park before leaving on a free transfer in 2026.

Strengthening their central defence has not been a priority for Chelsea. Instead, the Club World Cup winners’ focus has been on signing a new left-back, which they have now done.

Jorrel Hato has just joined Chelsea and will provide Marc Cucurella with competition next season. The Spaniard made more than 50 appearances last term.

However, the Blues could still make a move for Guehi between now and the end of the transfer window.

According to another journalist, Simon Phillips, Chelsea recently made fresh contact with Guehi’s agents.

It means the Conference League holders are still in the running for the Palace star. However, if Liverpool make an acceptable bid for him, it looks like he will be heading to Anfield.

Enzo Maresca is not short of centre-half options, with Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile all able to play in central defence.

New signing Hato can also be deployed there, so it is not a surprise that Guehi is not a priority for Chelsea right now.
