**A report has now surfaced on Wednesday evening that Newcastle United have agreed personal terms with a player over a potential summer move, and we're not getting excited.**
Sky Sports reporter Patrick Berger has now claimed on X that Newcastle have reached an agreement on personal terms with AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw.
The 23-year-old is a long-term target for Newcastle, and it seems the Magpies may now be ready to make their move, but despite having already accepted a bid for the German defender to move to Como earlier in the window, it's now being reported that Massimiliano Allegri has told the Milan chiefs he wants to keep the player.
Thiaw rejected the move to Como, but is keen on the move to Newcastle. But now Milan wants to keep him, which means it will take more than the £21 million Como were willing to pay to get a deal done.

Newcastle are interested, and suddenly, Malick Thiaw is essential to AC Milan
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's funny, isn't it, that now Newcastle, incorrectly regarded as the richest club in the world, are showing an interest, and suddenly Thiaw is the most important player at Milan and will cost a fortune.
Even non-Premier League clubs are getting in on the great Newcastle United piss take.
It's clearly a move to increase the price as they now believe they can get more than the €25 million that Como were going to pay.
Just pay Milan their inflated fee and get a new player in

We've saved a fortune this summer by not being able to sign anyone, though, so we should have the money to get this one done.
Our question is, how have we agreed on personal terms with a player who isn't for sale? Have the rules changed? There have been so many reports this summer of clubs agreeing terms with players before having even made a bid. Back in my day, that was called 'tapping up'.
It looks like Thiaw is going to cost more than €30 million (£26 million), but honestly, just pay them. Get it done. Bring some hope back to the fans. Bring some hope back to me so I can enjoy my job again. I hate spreading negativity.
