Morgan Rogers was forced off with an injury during Aston Villa’s pre-season friendly against AS Roma.

The forward came on at the start of the second half, but his night lasted only a few minutes.

After going to ground in visible pain, Rogers received medical attention on the pitch.

Villa’s medical staff appeared to examine his ankle before helping him to his feet.

He briefly jogged in an attempt to continue but soon shook his head and signalled that he couldn’t carry on.

At the time, Villa were 3-0 up against Roma, with goals from Emi Buendía, Jacob Ramsey, and Ollie Watkins.

The new Premier League season kicks off for Villa in 10 days, with an opening match against Newcastle.
