The Athletic has clarified Liverpool’s position regarding a potential move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola.
The Premier League champions have been linked with a move for Barcola this summer following the exit of Luis Diaz.
Díaz has joined Bayern Munich on a four-year deal, ending his three-and-a-half-year spell at Liverpool.
The 28-year-old was left out of Liverpool’s pre-season game against AC Milan amid transfer talks.
After rejecting an initial £58.6m bid, Liverpool accepted a £65.5m offer, allowing Díaz to complete a medical.
Signed from Porto for £37m in January 2022, Díaz made 148 appearances, scoring 41 goals.
He won the FA Cup, EFL Cup, and the Premier League, and featured in the 2022 Champions League final.
Last season, he netted 17 goals in all competitions.
Since his departure, several players have been linked with Liverpool, including Bradley Barcola, whom Arne Slot’s side have been tracking since last season.
Reports on Wednesday evening claimed that Liverpool were interested in the 22-year-old and were preparing a formal offer to Paris Saint-Germain for his services.
The France international racked up 64 appearances, scored 21 goals, and provided 21 assists for PSG last term as they won their first-ever Champions League title after beating Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.
He’s not a regular under Luis Enrique, with competition from Dembele, Kvaratskhelia, and Doue.
PSG paid £43.6m for Bradley Barcola in 2023 and would want to at least double that fee, though they’re not actively looking to sell.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are not pursuing a move for PSG’s Bradley Barcola.
While the club admire the Frenchman, they don’t want to block Rio Ngumoha’s development after his impressive pre-season.
Cody Gakpo is also expected to feature regularly on the left, reducing the need for reinforcements.
