Manchester United are very close to unveiling Benjamin Sesko.
The Slovenia international has picked the Red Devils over Newcastle, and is now nearing an exit from RB Leipzig.
TBR Football understand Manchester United hope to present Sesko at Old Trafford on Saturday before the friendly against Fiorentina.
Ruben Amorim will see €85m (£74m) deducted from his transfer budget once the deal becomes official.
Benjamin Sesko has agreed a five-year contract with Manchester United, although a difficult conversation with Diego Leon might need to take place if the Slovenian is to get his preferred No.30 shirt.
Benjamin Sesko might struggle to secure No.30 at Manchester United
The man born in Radece has worn the No.30 shirt for the last six seasons of his career, dating back to the 2020/21 campaign when he was still playing for RB Salzburg.
However, Manchester United have already given the No.30 shirt to another new signing in Diego Leon, who arrived in a £7m deal from Cerro Porteno back in July.
Therefore, Sesko will need to ask the 18-year-old if he would relinquish his new number in order to keep wearing the No.30 shirt at Old Trafford.
One shirt number Benjamin Sesko has previously worn is available
Sesko wore the No.21 shirt while on loan at FC Liefering from RB Salzburg, which is currently owned by Antony.
However, TBR Football understand Manchester United have put a £34m price tag on Antony as they aim to sell the Brazil international this summer.
The South American did not travel to the United States for pre-season with Manchester United, staying behind at Carrington alongside Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho.
Sesko also wore the No.29 shirt while playing for the RB Salzburg U19 side – however – which is currently available at Old Trafford.
It has not been worn since Aaron Wan-Bissaka departed for West Ham in August 2024.
For Slovenia, the 22-year-old wears the No.11 shirt, and previously had No.9 while playing for the Slovenia U17 side, although these are occupied by Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund respectively.
Therefore, unless Leon or Antony agree to relinquish their numbers, Sesko could choose to slip back into the No.29 shirt once his move to Old Trafford is finalised.
