Chelsea’s men’s and women’s teams came together at Stamford Bridge to show off an amazing collection of silverware. The men showed off their UEFA Conference League and Club World Cup trophies, and the Chelsea Women showed off their three trophies for winning the treble.
Reece James praised head coach Enzo Maresca’s work during the presentation, as he said:
“What he achieved for the club speaks for itself. When he arrived, we were in a difficult period of falling short and this season we have taken a big leap in the right direction.”
Since Maresca took over in June 2024, Chelsea have changed a lot. They finished fourth in the Premier League and won the Conference League title in May. That form continued into the summer, when the Blues beat Paris Saint-Germain 3–0 in New York to win the Club World Cup.
Sonia Bompastor, the new manager for the women’s team, made history by winning the WSL, FA Cup, and League Cup without losing a game. The last leg was a 3–0 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup final in front of a record crowd at Wembley. Bompastor is now focused on winning in Europe and adding the Women’s Champions League to Chelsea’s growing collection of trophies.
Mood at Stamford Bridge Dulls Chelsea Trophy Proceedings
Even though the players did well on the pitch, the ceremony in the stadium felt dull. Fans called the moment “awkward” because parts of the ground were only half-full, even though tickets were only £5. Reece James didn’t hold the trophy up over his head, and the mood didn’t seem very happy.
A lot of fans went on social media to ask for the return of traditional open-top bus parades that bring the club and the community closer together. It is uncertain if these changes will take place if the Blues can rally and win more trophies next season.
