Crystal Palace will be eager to keep hold of one of their most prized assets

Crystal Palace are preparing for another year in the Premier League. They managed to win the FA Cup last season after beating Manchester City in the final at Wembley. Oliver Glasner’s side are also gearing up for life in the Europa Conference League.

The Eagles have the chance to make some signings over the coming weeks to freshen up their ranks. They also have the opportunity to sell some players to help free up space and funds in their squad. The transfer window shuts on Monday 1st September at 7pm.

Crystal Palace reject Marc Guehi offers

According to Foot Mercato, Crystal Palace have ‘rejected’ two offers from Liverpool for Marc Guehi. The report suggests they want €55million (£48million) and the Reds don’t want to spend that much at this stage and could move on to other options in his position. The player’s contract expires in June 2026.

Guehi, 25, is facing an uncertain future at Selhurst Park. The Eagles risk losing him for nothing next year if they don’t sell him now or in January, assuming he doesn’t pen an extension anytime soon. They are holding firm right now amid attention from Anfield. Newcastle United are also linked with a move for the player.

The England international joined Chelsea as a youngster back in 2007 from Cray Wanderers. He then rose up through their academy ranks and was a regular at various different youth levels. The Blues handed him his first professional contract in 2017 and he went on to play twice for their first-team.

Guehi ended up having two separate stints with the Swans before Crystal Palace swooped in. The Ivory Coast-born man has since become one of their main players. He has made 155 appearances in all competitions for them to date.

What now for Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace?

Crystal Palace are holding out for their valuation of Guehi and won’t sell him on the cheap. Liverpool are refusing to budge at this stage. It would be a huge blow for the Eagles to lose him and they would struggle to find a replacement of his ability.

Glasner has recently shared this transfer update: "Even though all the players are still here, we haven't made the most of the transfer window so far. I was promised that we would be more active and bring in the new players earlier this year. As of now, I have 17 outfield players. I hope we don't lose any more. If that happens and we get four new ones on deadline day like last year, another false start is possible."

Although it has been all quiet on the incoming front for the London outfit, they have managed to retain the services of Guehi and Eberechi Eze so far. If they can keep them both beyond the deadline, supporters will probably forgive them for their lack of additions. There seems an air of inevitability that one or both will move on in the near future. However, for now they both remain and will be eager to show what they can do next term.
