Arsenal are still looking to strengthen this summer and this is who the possible departure of Leandro Trossard should be covered by.

Arsenal’s summer has been a productive one so far with Mikel Arteta adding the missing pieces to a title winning jigsaw.

The Premier League has eluded the Gunners boss after a series of close calls with the feeling being that a bit of luck with VAR, injuries and a couple of new additions being all it would take to finally get over the line. That was until their rivals all approached this summer’s transfer window with the same intent and spent the sort of money that hasn’t been seen before.

Liverpool have kept key players like Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk, whilst adding Florian Wirtz and potentially seeing the window with both Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak on their books. The signing of Viktor Gyokeres makes a difference though and it will be hoped that he can get close to his Sporting Lisbon goalscoring form.

Time for Arsenal to cash in on Leandro Trossard

Madueke’s arrival plus the expectation of at least one more forward being signed means that there will have to be departures and not just to make space, but to save money on the wage bill and to help ward off the attentions of PSR.

The favourite so far is Leandro Trossard with Brentford and Borussia Dortmund said to be interested in taking the 30-year old Belgian for a fee in the region of £17m.

With two years left on his Arsenal contract, it is unlikely to be extended which means that this summer is the time to cash in. After 11 goals and 10 assists last season, his stock is also relatively high.

Trossard might not be a truly elite level winger, but anyone signing him will know exactly what they are getting and won’t be disappointed. Few forwards are as hard working as the former Brighton man either.

Who should Arsenal buy to replace Leandro Trossard?

Someone like Rodrygo wouldn’t be getting signed as a replacement for Trossard, however, it would still leave a gap in the squad that would need to be filled and there are options out there. As with the Real Madrid winger, Eze would also be a more senior option but one player who was linked earlier in the window could be the perfect solution.

Having been exposed to senior football in Ligue 1 and European football already, £51m rated Malick Fofana is at the right stage of his career to make the step up to a bigger team as Lyon’s financial future continues to be uncertain. At 20-years old, the Belgian playmaker can be trusted to start games without the need to be a key player and could rotate for Bukayo Saka and whoever is signed to start on the left.

"He has the profile to succeed in the Premier League. He possesses qualities similar to those of Manchester United's Amad Diallo, namely speed, impact, and the ability to create opportunities. There's no doubt he can make a splash. For him, this would be an opportunity to continue his development and, above all, to showcase his talent in a league that favors transitional play. However, he'll have to choose the right club, as competition is fierce across the Channel.”
