Leeds United face an uphill battle moving into the upcoming Premier League season.

The Whites were promoted as title winners from the Championship on 100 points, but are still bound to struggle in the top division.

Each of the last six new sides in the league have been relegated, and Daniel Farke’s side will be keen to be the outlier of that statistic this campaign.

With this hope echoing around Elland Road, a supercomputer prediction has emerged with just over a week remaining until the season begins.

To this stage, the LS11 club are yet to truly add massive quality to their squad ready for an opening day clash against Everton.

Seven new signings have come in, with Jaka Bijol and Anton Stach being the true standouts to this point in Yorkshire.

Strength in the forward line is yet to come in from the market, with Lukas Nmecha being the only attacker to come in.

As a result, fans can’t be blamed for potentially fearing for the worst moving into the new season against some of the best sides in Europe.

It is fair to say that the Opta supercomputer (6 August) has confirmed worries around the Whites, predicting them to finish 19th in the Premier League.

This has suggested that only Sunderland will finish below Farke’s men, backing Burnley, Wolves and West Ham to finish above them in the table.

Leeds have been backed to go down in 48.1 per cent of the simulations, showing just how much of a difficult year awaits in the elite division.

Leeds United need more quality signings

It seems as if there is a need for sales before purchases can be made, but that can’t be seen as an excuse at this stage of the window.

The likes of Patrick Bamford need to be cleared off to make way for further additions in the forward line, having already missed out on other targets.

Someone like Igor Paixao has already gone elsewhere, something which will represent a larger blow the longer the season goes on.

Having already been firmly backed to be relegated, things aren’t exactly looking bright for Farke and Co. right now.
