Liverpool's attention will be on Sunday's Community Shield against Crystal Palace as they prepare for the new season. Nevertheless, the conversation continues to revolve around the transfer window and the Reds' ongoing pursuit of Alexander Isak.
The Swedish player returned to England this week after training with his former club Real Sociedad while his Newcastle United teammates were on their pre-season tour. Liverpool have already had an offer turned down for the striker, who is keen to leave, with reports indicating that the Magpies would need to find a replacement and receive a satisfactory bid before agreeing to a deal.
Benjamin Sesko was viewed as a potential replacement for the Swede, and the North East club had their second offer for the Slovenian accepted. However, they faced competition from Manchester United, and the 22-year-old has reportedly made it clear he wants to join the Red Devils.
Below are some of the latest Liverpool transfer rumours...
Barcola claim
Liverpool are being linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola. Claims in French publicationL'Equipe state that the Reds are interested in signing either Barcola or Real Madrid star Rodrygo before the summer window closes on September 1.
It is claimed that Liverpool have 'been following him for a long time' and could try and persuade him to join the Reds. The 2025 Champions League winners spent €50million to buy Barcola from Lyon two years ago.
The report adds that it's unlikely they would let him leave for less than €100m (around £87m) to a direct contender for the Champions League in 2025/26.
Isak 'encouragement'
ChronicleLive's Lee Ryder reports that Liverpool 'have had every encouragement' to put in a follow-up offer for Isak, five days on from the rejection of their opening £110m attempt.
But the overriding factor is that Newcastle have struggled to get their own business done, making it difficult to allow a star striker to leave.
Potential replacements linked with a move to St James' Park include Leipzig's Sesko, Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, and Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson. The Magpies look likely to miss out on Sesko to Man United, however, while Villa have insisted that Watkins is not for sale.
