Nottingham Forest fail with £35m bid for Ipswich Town star

Ipswich Town are firmly focused on making an immediate return to the Premier League in the 2025/26 season. Despite their brief stint in the top tier, ITFC demonstrated resilience and now heads into the new campaign with renewed confidence and momentum.

With the highly regarded Kieran McKenna still leading the charge, the Tractor Boys are widely tipped as one of the Championship’s top promotion contenders. But there’s no room for complacency, every point will have to be earned.

The squad has already been strengthened with some shrewd summer additions, though the club still faces a battle to hold on to one of their most valuable stars. According to transfer guru David Ornstein, Ipswich Town have rejected a bid from Premier League Nottingham Forest for winger Omari Hutchinson.

The bid is said to be £35m for Hutchinson, close to the release clause that expired earlier in the window. Brentford are also still keen on Hutchinson after having a bid rejected last month.

ITFC will consider selling the winger, but it would cost more than the £35m bids they have received so far. The Tractor Boys signed Hutchinson on a permanent deal last summer for around £20m.

Ipswich Town cannot afford to lose Omari Hutchinson now

Although Ipswich Town have been relegated, the club remains in a strong financial position. They are under no pressure to sell players below market value, and while speculation continues around potential outgoings, efforts to strengthen the squad are also well underway.

One player Ipswich must prioritise keeping is Omari Hutchinson. The England U21 international has the potential to be a key figure in the Championship and, with an eye on the future, someone the Tractor Boys will want in their ranks should they secure a return to the Premier League.

Another season in the second tier may seem like a setback, but continued regular football as a standout performer could accelerate Hutchinson’s development and significantly raise his profile. He would be particularly difficult to replace at this stage in the window.
