Jack Grealish’s career at club and international level is in a worrying place.
Manchester City are prepared to sell Grealish this summer as he has seemingly been surplus to requirements for Pep Guardiola in the past two seasons.
Furthermore, Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel has excluded the 29-year-old from his past two England squads.
Gareth Southgate axed Grealish from England’s squad for the European Championship last year as well.

Thomas Tuchel still really likes Jack Grealish
In the 2025/2026 season, Jack Grealish has the mammoth task of rescuing his career but it still remains undecided where he will play his football.
Grealish’s loan move to Everton could be jeopardised as Manchester City would only sanction the transfer if 100 per cent of his wages are covered by another club, which is easier said than done as he takes home £300,000-a-week.

On talkSPORT Breakfast, journalist Ben Jacobs explained the complications of the Englishman’s move to Everton while revealing that Thomas Tuchel still rates Grealish highly.
“So, I think two things are going to happen here. Either Grealish is going to lower his [wage] demands, making it a bit easier for Everton, in which case I’m told he would be open to the move on the right terms because believe it or not, frozen out at the moment at Manchester City in terms of opportunities and yet, Thomas Tuchel really likes the player.”
“So, if he can get playing regularly, there still might be a way back in and a pathway for him to be a part of the 2026 World Cup.”
“So, the Grealish side is going to be vital to this as he might make the deal a whole lot easier and then, from Manchester City’s point of view, are they going to bend on the structure, are they going to sanction a loan or are they going to hold out on a 100 per cent wage coverage of the loan but also potentially the fact that another suitor might come in with some kind of permanent offer for Jack Grealish.”
Thomas Tuchel has told Jack Grealish what to do to return to England squad
As a result, Grealish still has the power in his hands to revive his career and return to the England squad.
Playing at the 2026 World Cup would be the Manchester City winger’s dream, considering he participated in the previous edition of the competition in 2022. Thomas Tuchel advised Grealish to seek regular football while praising him as a player.
Tuchel said in June: “So he needs to make himself available by playing. I think it’s one of his key strengths. To go every three days and get better and better with every minute that he has in his legs. That’s what is missing, nothing else.”
“I love Jack for his personality and of course, his talent. He is a very unique player who can handle big pressure on the field. He is never shy of pressure. It’s the opposite. He grows in big matches, but he’s a player who needs minutes and minutes and minutes and simply does not get them for a very long time. That’s basically everything. Nothing has changed.”
Considering Thomas Tuchel’s stance on Grealish remains unchanged as he rates the three-time Premier League winner highly, only time will tell whether he redeems himself or risks being excluded from the German’s England squad for the World Cup.
