Everton are pushing forward with their attempts to sign Jack Grealish on loan.

The England international has been frozen out at Manchester City and needs to play regular football if he wants to stand any chance at playing in next summer’s World Cup.

It would be a strong statement of intent for Everton if they were to sign Grealish, albeit a costly one as the Toffees would need to cover at least half of Grealish’s £300,000 a week wages.

However, it’s believed that Grealish is open to moving to Merseyside and Everton are in desperate need of more flair players, having only scored 42 Premier League goals last season.

Dwight McNeil to suffer if Jack Grealish loan deal progresses

Grealish has proven that he score and assist goals regularly at Premier League level from the wing. However, the deal could spell bad news for Dwight McNeil.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Grealish is most likely to slot on the right wing for Everton if he is signed, which is where McNeil prefers to play.

McNeil has played seven seasons in the Premier League, but has never scored more than seven goals in a single campaign.

He missed several months with a knee injury last season and was forced to slot in on the left on several occasions for Everton. However, Grealish’s arrival could limit his playing time even more.

Moyes can help Grealish rediscover his best form

Before sealing his £100million transfer to Manchester City, Grealish was regarded as one of the most exciting players in the Premier League.

Grealish was capable of:

Beating his marker

Showing unique and daring skills on the ball

Scoring fantastic goals

Sadly, we haven’t seen much of that since he joined Manchester City. It seems that Pep Guardiola has coached this raw talent out of him so he can fit in the Spaniard’s possession-based system.

Moyes favours a more pacy and direct style of attack, and he’ll likely to release Grealish from his shackles and encourage him to use his flair in the final third.

For this reason, the loan move could be a great fit for both Grealish and Everton.

If the former Aston Villa man is given the freedom to express himself in Everton’s attack, that should give him the best opportunity to show England manager Thomas Tuchel what he can do.
