Leeds United open talks for £17.5m Brazilian full-back sensation

Leeds United are set to focus most of their efforts in the final weeks of the transfer window on securing the attacking players that Daniel Farke wants. However, the club are open to strengthening other areas of their squad as well to bolster their options.

Farke has made it clear that, without attacking reinforcements, his Leeds United squad can’t be termed Premier League-ready this summer. He believes his attack has been weakened since promotion last season, and the club are working on improving their final third in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Leeds want to sign a striker, a left-winger and a number 10 before the end of the window, but the club are also in the hunt for players in other positions as well, given Farke’s insistence on getting quality cover.

Isaac Schmidt’s willingness to move on from Leeds United this summer has forced the club to look for a right-back who can be adequate cover for Jayden Bogle in the squad for the Premier League season ahead.

Leeds United open talks to sign former Real Madrid defender Vinicius Tobias

With Schmidt keen to join Werder Bremen on loan, Leeds are in the market for a right-back who can come in and be ready for the Premier League next season.

According to Fussballeuropa.com, Leeds are in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk right-back Vinicius Tobias and his camp over a potential transfer to Elland Road.

The negotiations are still at an early stage, and Leeds have yet to make an offer. However, the Whites are aware of the financial terms needed to get the deal done.

The Ukrainian club are open to selling him but want a fee around the £17.5m figure, and will also demand a sell-on clause as part of any agreement.

Tobias is on a contract worth £2.6m per year at Shakhtar, and Leeds are unlikely to find it difficult to give him a pay rise if they move for him.

The Brazilian spent two years with Real Madrid’s B team before returning to Shakhtar last year, and turned heads with his performances last season.

Leeds are very much exploring the possibility of taking the 21-year-old Tobias to Elland Road this summer.

He could be more than cover for Jayden Bogle

Bogle was the undisputed number one for the right-back position last season and played a huge role in getting Leeds promoted to the Premier League.

However, he did struggle in the top flight with Sheffield United, and he has much to prove in the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Leeds were appear to be only looking for full-back cover to allow Schmidt to leave, but if they end up spending more than £17m on Tobias, he might be more than just a backup to Bogle.

At 21, he will not be joining Leeds to sit on the bench, and could end up replacing Bogle in the starting eleven over the course of the season.
