Leeds United could get imminent transfer green light as £46.2m deal edges closer

Leeds United could benefit from Liverpool selling Darwin Nunez to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. Following promotion back to the Premier League, Daniel Farke's side have been busy in the summer window with seven new signings brought into Elland Road and roughly £73million spent.

The likes of Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff have been acquired to strengthen the spine of the team but a significant attacking purchase has not gone through yet. The Whites likely thought they had that in the form of Igor Paixao but he opted to join Marseille instead.

Links to Rodrigo Muniz, Artem Dovbyk and Kasper Dolberg as possible striker signings have since emerged but no real progress has been made. Fiorentina's Riccardo Sottil also appears of interest to Farke while a return for Manor Solomon has not been ruled out following a successful loan spell from Tottenham.

Having a proven Premier League striker could be what keeps Leeds in the Premier League though with Fulham's Muniz, who has also been linked to Newcastle, perhaps the perfect option. However, there is a real possibility that a potential deal for another forward that has scored plenty of goals under Marco Silva could be on.

Serbian international Aleksandar Mitrovic has reportedly been presented as a transfer option to those at Leeds with Al-Hilal now prepared to move him on. This update may come as no surprise with the Middle East outfit having agreed a deal worth €53m (£46.2m), plus significant add-ons, with the Premier League champions for Nunez. The Uruguay international will sign a three-year contract once all the final details over personal terms are sorted, as per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

Despite scoring an impressive 47 goals since joining, Mitrovic is seemingly free to leave with fellow Premier League newcomers Sunderland also interested. However, they have since confirmed the arrival of Marc Guiu on loan from Chelsea.

Though Leeds may have a free run at his signature, there is a potentially major financial stumbling block when it comes to agreeing a deal with the Serbia international currently earning a staggering £400,000-per-week.

However, if he is willing to take a pay-cut in order to seal a Premier League return, Leeds could finally have a real shot at bringing in a marquee name up top.
