Sporting’s pursuit of Jota Silva could stretch into the final weeks of the transfer window, with both the club and the player reportedly aligned on making the move happen later in August. [That’s according to journalist Nuno Farinha](https://maisfutebol.iol.pt/videos/689383a10cf216cd3ad39738/jota-silva-negocio-com-o-sporting-deve-ser-feito-na-segunda-quinzena-de-agosto?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ed-maisfutebol), who spoke about the situation during an appearance on CNN Portugal.
_“The deal has all the conditions to go through, but there is no urgency,”_ Farinha explained. _“Both sides have reasons to wait until the end of the window. Jota really wants to join Sporting, and Rui Borges is very keen to have him.”_
The Nottingham Forest forward is said to be aware of his limited role at the Premier League club and sees Sporting as an ideal destination to gain the regular minutes he needs. According to Farinha, the 25-year-old is aiming to be in top form ahead of next year’s World Cup and has “almost a promise” from Rui Borges that he will get that opportunity in Lisbon.
Jota Silva’s first season at Forest wasn’t considered a total disappointment, but he had hoped for more. Despite making 38 appearances, he started only nine times and struggled to secure a consistent place under Nuno Espírito Santo.
Farinha added an emotional but somewhat uncomfortable note to the situation, mentioning the tragic death of Diogo Jota. With both players competing for a similar role in the national team setup, that loss has only strengthened Silva’s desire to step up and claim his place.
For now, the expectation is that the deal will move forward as a loan in the second half of August, but the conditions and timing will depend on how the window unfolds.
