On Wednesday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported AC Milan have rejected Newcastle United’s €30m offer for Malick Thiaw.
This hasn’t put off the Magpies as Sky Deutschland journalist Patrick Berger reported later that day that they have reached a full agreement with the defender.
TuttoMercatoWeb reports Massimiliano Allegri highly values the Germany international, after he impressed during pre-season.
He hasn’t changed his opinion after Newcastle came forward. TMW state the manager needs to be convinced for the operation to go through.
Meanwhile, Milan have started discussions with Juventus over a swap deal involving the centre-back and Dušan Vlahović. TMW claims the Old Lady have been pushing for this operation.
This indicates the Rossoneri are open to selling Thiaw and want an extra effort from Eddie Howe’s side.
Gazzetta dello Sport also report the Italian club have rejected Newcastle’s €30m offer for the 23-year-old.
He currently earns €800,000 [likely net annually] and the Premier League club are said to have offered him a four-year contract which would improve his salary hugely. Thiaw is ready to move to St James’ Park, after reaching an agreement with Newcastle who now have to convince Milan.
Although Allegri admires the German, Gazzetta say he isn’t ‘unsellable’ for the San Siro club. They state: ‘…the certainty is that the club in Via Aldo Rossi is expecting an English revival.’
In other words, Milan are expecting Newcastle to make an improved bid. Gazzetta aren’t aware of the fee needed to convince them and believe €35m plus should be enough to seal the deal.
Again, we’d point out reports earlier this summer stated Como had a €25m offer accepted but Thiaw didn’t want to move there, and that makes the figures this week seem questionable.
