Benjamin Sesko has decided to join Manchester United over Newcastle this summer.
The Slovenia international striker has been a target for Premier League clubs for over a year, and it finally looks like he will be moving to England.
TBR Football revealed more than a week ago that Sesko was Newcastle’s top target to replace Alexander Isak, and the Toon tabled a huge bid to sign him.
However, Sesko has chosen Manchester United, but Newcastle haven’t given up all hope just yet.
Newcastle United officials are still in Leipzig despite Benjamin Sesko’s Manchester United decision
Benjamin Sesko wants to join Manchester United this summer – he has made up his mind.
The RB Leipzig striker was a target for the Red Devils last year too, but no move materialised because he decided to stay at the Red Bull Arena for another year.
Newcastle were prepared to pay any amount to sign Sesko this summer, and they made an official offer worth €90 million.
That bid was accepted by Leipzig, but Eddie Howe’s side faced rejection from the player as Sesko’s preference is to move to Old Trafford in the coming days.
However, Ruben Amorim’s side are yet to reach an agreement over the fee and payment structure with Leipzig, which is why Newcastle representatives are still in Germany.
That’s according to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who has claimed that Newcastle are ‘ready’ to pounce if United and Leipzig fail to reach an agreement.
But, as things stand, United are still ahead in the race.
Plettenberg tweeted: “Showdown in Leipzig today! Newcastle, like Manchester United, still have representatives on site in Leipzig, ready to react in case Man United cannot reach an agreement with Leipzig.
“However, the Red Devils are going all in – especially because Benjamin Sesko has now clearly committed: he wants to join Manchester United. MUFC Personal terms are 100% agreed.”

Newcastle have held talks with another striker
Newcastle are right to not give up until the very end for Sesko, but the likeliest scenario now is that he will end up at Manchester United.
The Magpies will need to look elsewhere to solve their issues up front, and they have started talks with another striker – Nicolas Jackson.
More on Nicolas Jackson and Newcastle. Initial talks have already taken place.
Chelsea are prepared to sanction an exit. Newcastle were fully focused on Benjamin Sesko, but are now considering whether to make an approach.

Ben Jacobs has revealed that Chelsea are open to selling their Senegalese striker in the coming days after the signings of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
However, the Blues’ valuation stands at £80 million. It remains to be seen if Newcastle will be prepared to pay such a high figure for Jackson in this window.
