Neto is now one medical away from being officially unveiled by Botafogo. After cutting ties with Bournemouth and flying straight from the club’s pre-season in the US, the 36-year-old has already passed the first round of tests in Rio de Janeiro.
According to Globo Esporte, the first phase of his medical included cardiological evaluations, among other routine checks. A second round is scheduled for Thursday, focusing more broadly on the goalkeeper’s overall physical condition, including mobility, muscle strength, and general match fitness.
After arriving in Brazil earlier this week, Neto finalised his departure from Bournemouth, terminating his contract by mutual agreement. He had been on pre-season duty in the United States with the Premier League side, but left camp once the final details of his exit were settled.
He has agreed to a deal running until June 2027, with an option to extend for an additional six months. Bournemouth had no plans to keep Neto around, so the mutual termination was quick and painless.
Now he’s in Brazil, tested, settled, and practically ready to take over the gloves. All that’s missing is the final push from London.
