Fenerbahce will reportedly look to sign 32-year-old Brazilian international Alisson Becker from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Sabah, as relayed by Sport Witness, Alisson Becker is the subject of interest from Fenerbahce. The Turkish Super Lig giants are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window as they prepare to part ways with Dominik Livakovic. So, the 32-year-old Liverpool shot-stopper has emerged as a target for the Yellow Canaries.
Ederson Moraes was a target before Manchester City’s asking price scuppered a move for Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. So, the seven-year Liverpool veteran has emerged as an alternative for the Turkish club, although it is unclear if a summer move will see the light of day.
Alisson Becker and his meteoric rise
Alisson Becker has been arguably the best goalkeeper in the world since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in a deal worth €62.5 million in July 2018. The 32-year-old has gone from strength to strength in the last seven years, having been a mainstay between the sticks for the Merseyside outfit.
The Brazilian international has turned out nearly 300 times thus far for Liverpool while keeping 127 clean sheets and conceding 269 goals. Meanwhile, the former AS Roma goalkeeper’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Meanwhile, the player may face an uncertain future at Anfield after Giorgio Mamardashvili’s arrival.
Turkish adventure beckons?
Fenerbahce’s interest in Alisson Becker is understandable. The Yellow Canaries are scouring the market for a goalkeeper as they prepare to part ways with Dominik Livakovic in the summer transfer window. So, they must dip into the market for a goalkeeper this summer, with the Liverpool veteran emerging as a viable target.
Fenerbahce wanted to sign Ederson Moraes from Manchester City in the summer transfer window, before the Premier League club’s asking price of €20 million scuppered a summer move. As for the Liverpool mainstay, it is unclear if the player wants to depart from Anfield in the summer transfer window.
Recent reports have suggested that the 32-year-old Brazilian international will unlikely leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window. So, Fenerbahce may face disappointment in the battle for Alisson’s signature in the coming weeks.
