Brighton are in talks with Arsenal for another loan spell for Lionesses sensation Michelle Agyemang. The 19-year-old forward shone at Euro 2025 before being central to a controversial post from King Charles.
After being praised for her game-changing performances off the bench for Sarina Wiegman's team, the star was omitted from a series of photos of support posted by the King before the final. Wiegman later addressed the issue, saying she believed the error "would never, ever be intentional."
After the tournament, Agyemang assured fans she felt valued by the squad, and the nation. Arsenal are reportedly pleased with her development but want to ensure she gets ample playing time next term, which might be challenging in North London given the calibre of Renee Slegers' Champions League-winning squad.
The dynamic young star earned the Young Player of the Tournament accolade after scoring crucial late levellers against Sweden and Italy, before aiding the Lionesses to victory in the final against Spain. Agyemang bagged five goals in 22 matches while on loan at Brighton last season and found the net three times in 17 WSL games.
According to the Mirror, negotiations between Brighton and Arsenal are advancing well, with the Seagulls currently seen as the favourites to secure the forward's signature again as the Gunners aim to steer her growth with caution.
Renee Slegers expressed her satisfaction with Agyemang's performance on the South Coast back in May, stating: "I'm really happy to see how she's doing, that she's making progress and that she's contributing to Brighton and developing, so that's really good to see.
"We know she's an Arsenal player, she's within an Arsenal contract and we're really happy with that because we believe in Mich and we want to find the right way forward for her."
Agyemang inked her first professional contract with Arsenal in May 2024 before being loaned out to Albion. The competition for attacking positions is intense, with Slegers' squad brimming with star talent. Beth Mead, Caitlin Foord, Chloe Kelly, Olivia Smith, Alessia Russo and Stina Blackstenius are all vying for a starting spot, leaving Agyemang far down the list.
However, this doesn't mean she's not part of Arsenal's long-term plans, and there's belief that she has the potential to become one of the leading figures in the women's team.
Arsenal recently broke the world record by paying a £1million fee to sign Liverpool forward Smith. This seven-figure deal surpassed the £890,000 Chelsea paid San Diego Wave for Naomi Girma in January.
The 21 year old Canadian international netted seven times in the WSL last season for the Reds. The Gunners have also strengthened their defence by snapping up former Liverpool star Taylor Hinds on a free transfer after her contract expired.
