Sources: Liverpool star given permission to travel to Germany to complete medical, deal agreed

Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez is expected to travel to Germany for his Al-Hilal medical in the next 24 hours, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.

A €53m plus add-ons package has been agreed between the two clubs. Liverpool are recouping a significant portion of the €75m plus bonuses paid to Benfica when they signed Nunez in 2022.

Napoli were also keen this summer

Nunez came close to leaving in the January transfer window to join Al-Nassr. Liverpool held firm at the time, rejecting a €70m offer. They felt Nunez was better served helping the club win their 20th Premier League title. This summer, Núñez and his representatives reiterated their desire for a transfer.

Nunez remained professional in pre-season and scored five goals during an impressive period for the Reds. A bid from Napoli was rejected earlier this summer. Nunez was open to the move to the Italian club, but they never met Liverpool’s valuation or payment terms. GIVEMESPORT understands that Napoli proposed a deferred fee until summer 2026, then wished to pay the fee over five years.

Liverpool are now exploring the market for a new attacker. Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak remains the top priority for the Merseyside club. Liverpool will bid again if Newcastle offer encouragement that he could depart this summer. GIVEMESPORT understands that Liverpool have a very specific criteria for the profile they want.

Any attacker, Isak or another, must be of sufficient quality to start and be available at fair market value. which is why Liverpool will only bid again for Isak if he is genuinely attainable. Liverpool will stick to their strategy and ignore the noise, as they always tend to.

It is also worth noting that Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni could be genuine first-team contenders, while the versatility of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Curtis Jones, and Harvey Elliott (should he stay) makes Liverpool content with their attacking depth.
