West Ham are hoping Raheem Sterling can be the answer to their goalscoring problems.
Graham Potter is a huge fan of Sterling and is aiming to sign him on either a cheap transfer or a season-long loan.
It would be an expensive acquisition, even as a loan deal, as Sterling currently outearns the entire West Ham squad.
Still, it looks increasingly likely that Sterling will be switching clubs after a new snub by Chelsea.

Sterling was one of nine players removed from the first team squad on the Chelsea website on Thursday. His name and image is now nowhere to be found on the website.

Sterling had already been left out of Chelsea’s squad for the Club World Cup, but this latest setback further confirms his position at Stamford Bridge.
He will need to move away from West London to stand any chance of playing regular football this season, and Potter seems ready to offer him that at West Ham.
The 30-year-old was a regular starter at Chelsea during Potter’s short reign as manager there.

Potter’s future at West Ham could rely on Sterling and Wilson resurgence
West Ham only scored 46 Premier League goals last season, and Potter needs to sign players who can help them improve on that total.
They’ve already lost Mohammed Kudus and Michail Antonio, so replacements are needed.
Potter has a reputation for being an astute operator in the transfer market, but there are concerns about Sterling and Callum Wilson being the marquee signings.
The former has been out of form for two years, while the latter has struggled terribly with injuries.

West Ham had PSR concerns when Potter was appointed, but this form of bargain-basement shopping could backfire.
West Ham have a tricky start to the season. If Wilson and Sterling (if he signs) aren’t firing on all cylinders, Potter will shoulder the blame.
His job might even be at risk if these two can’t fire West Ham toward the top half of the league.
