Douglas Luiz to Nottingham Forest latest: Thursday update, Kia and Edu trying to get deal done

On Wednesday, Tuttosport reported Douglas Luiz’s agent Kia Joorabchian has reached a preliminary agreement with Nottingham Forest on wages.

Later that day, Gazzetta dello Sport reported the midfielder is very close to joining the Reds and Ibrahim Sangaré could be included as part of the deal. They also stated Nuno Espírito Santo’s side want to sign Luiz on loan with a conditional obligation to buy.

Thursday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport points out Nottingham Forest tried to sign him in January, but he wasn’t keen on joining them at that time.

Luiz was happy with his life in Italy and didn’t want to return to the Premier League, just months after leaving Aston Villa.

The situation with Nottingham Forest has now changed, particularly after Edu Gaspar’s recent meeting with Joorabchian.

Corriere claims that during this meeting with the agent, Nottingham Forest offered a five-year contract with a salary higher than what Luiz is currently earning at Juventus. This can only come into effect if and when his loan stay is made permanent in 2026.

Nottingham Forest are currently working on signing the Brazil international on loan with an obligation to buy if they qualify for European competition again. The overall fee is around €34m plus bonuses, which doesn’t fully convince the Old Lady.

According to the report, Juve general manager Damien Comolli’s aim is to avoid a capital loss from Luiz’s exit.

Therefore, Corriere claims Comolli is requesting €10m in loan fee and an obligation to buy set at €30m. The valuation could be adjusted by letting Sangaré move in the opposite direction.

Luiz is expected to leave and Joorabchian and Edu are trying to find an agreement, which could suit all parties.
