Rangers boss Russell Martin is looking for a new goalkeeper in the transfer market.

The Gers have already added nine new players already but it appears that the new majority owners, the 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh, are not done yet.

Jack Butland has struggled to nail down the number one spot recently, with Liam Kelly replacing him towards the end of the Barry Ferguson era.

The Englishman may be put out of his misery in the near future after the latest Ibrox developments.

Rangers target Hein gets the better of Haaland

Rangers have reportedly entered the race for Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein, who spent last season on loan at Real Valladolid.

The Estonian star left Real Madrid president Florentino Perez stunned despite conceding three goals in defeat last August.

That was not the end of his impressive exploits, as he left Manchester City ace Erling Haaland red-faced in an international clash against Norway.

The Estonia captain made a great save from the world-class striker in the 44th minute of the clash and was unlucky to be on the losing side.

Haaland would eventually score with an effort that was deflected, bounced off the bar and then tapped in off the line, which Hein could do nothing about.

Martin needs a reliable goalkeeper like Hein

Hein featured 31 times in La Liga last season, keeping five clean sheets and conceding 68 goals.

While that does not seem too impressive, it is crucial to remember that he played for the side that finished rock bottom of the division.

The Gunners’ ace has the potential to grow into a world-class keeper, and Martin needs a new first-choice stopper.

He had a 39.4 per cent long ball accuracy

The new ownership needs to take gambles like that, on players with high potential, if they are to overhaul Celtic in the Scottish Premiership anytime soon.

They will not be able to do that with Butland between the sticks, so it makes sense that they are seeking a replacement.

Given how he performed against Haaland, the most lethal attacker in world football, it suggests that Hein could become a star for Martin’s Light Blues.
