**Newcastle United are yet to bring in a striker this summer despite it being one of the top priorities going into the transfer window.**
Strikers of the level Newcastle need are rare and as such, when one becomes available, there's often a queue, and as we've seen several times already this summer, we're not exactly standing out amongst the crowd yet.
There is still a very slim chance Newcastle win the race for Benjamin Sesko, but the Magpies have reportedly set their sights on Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson, for whom the Blues have set a price tag of £80million.
Newcastle are still waiting for Brentford to find a replacement for Yoane Wissa, so they will finally sanction his move to the North East, so there's still a chance we get two strikers through the door eventually.

Yoane Wissa feels like a foregone conclusion, unless Brentford fail to find a striker themselves. Meanwhile, the links to Jackson are getting stronger by the hour.
We aren't sure that he's worth anywhere near £80 million, and I'm personally not convinced he's worth half that, but I'm in the minority in the _NUFC Feed_ office, so I'm willing to be proved wrong.
However, should Newcastle get the deals done for Wissa and Jackson, it does present a big problem over Christmas.

Both players would be off to represent their respective countries at the African Cup of Nations, which runs from 21st December to 18th January, a period in which Newcastle have six games scheduled.
Obviously, unless DR Congo and Senegal meet in the final, there's every chance we'd get at least one of them back earlier than mid-January, but it's still an issue.
On a lesser scale, Jackson would also miss the first game of the season due to suspension after picking up a red card against Newcastle at the back end of last season. Sweet mother of irony.
