Newcastle officials in Germany and Yoane Wissa bid now at risk of being hijacked?

Over the last few weeks, I have begun to come to terms with the idea of Alexander Isak leaving the club this summer.

It would be another major setback, but I had hoped the club could pull off two deals to ease the pain. One being a club-record move for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, alongside the arrival of Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.

It would’ve been an exciting double move, mixing a top young talent with big potential with a Premier League proven 28-year-old in Wissa.

Sadly, however, the arrival of both looks highly unlikely, even if Newcastle United have not given up hope just yet.

Starting with Benjamin Sesko, Sky Germany’s chief reporter Florian Plettenberg reports that Newcastle representatives are still in Leipzig, refusing to walk away from a deal in the event Manchester United fail to find an agreement.

The player has made it known that he prefers a switch to Old Trafford, but Toon officials are ‘on site’ and ‘ready to react’ in the unlikely event that an opportunity to land the Slovenia presents itself.

As reported by David Ornstein, Newcastle’s bid has already been accepted by Leipzig, leaving Man Utd in talks to agree a deal the Bundesliga side in order to push through a £70m+ transfer.

Then to Yoane Wissa, there is worrying news now emerging from France on the DR Congo star.

Wissa has been holding out for a move to Newcastle, refusing to train or play in pre-season friendlies until earlier this week, but L’Equipe’s Loic Tanzi now reports that Saudi giants Al Nassr are now ‘actively pursuing’ the striker.

Nothing would sum up this summer more than PIF-owned Al Nassr hijacking our attempts to land Wissa, especially when Al-Hilal (also PIF-owned) have just agreed to sign Darwin Nunez in a deal that may help fund Liverpool’s second bid for Alexander Isak!

The hope is that Wissa remains determined to join Newcastle, who he’s been pushing to join for weeks, with the former Lorient star said to be determined to play Champions League football after last season’s 20-goal haul with the Bees.
