Nice forward Evann Guessand will allegedly undergo a medical with Aston Villa on Thursday, with the 24-year-old closing in on a switch to Villa Park.
Guessand had an impressive 2024-25 campaign for his French club, scoring 12 times and registering nine assists in 33 outings in the top flight of French football.
A number of clubs have been credited with an interest in the attacker during this summer's transfer window, but Villa appear to have won the race for his signature.
According to PA, Guessand will have a medical at Villa's training base on Thursday, with the forward set to arrive at the Premier League club in a deal worth £30.5m.
Crystal Palace are among the clubs to also be linked with the attacker this summer.
The Ivory Coast international has scored 21 goals and registered 15 assists in 109 appearances for Nice in all competitions, and he is set to become Villa's first major signing of the summer transfer window.

Newcastle 'weighing up' McGinn move
Sticking with Villa and a potential major outgoing, Newcastle United are reportedly giving serious consideration to making a move for John McGinn during this summer's transfer window.
Sean Longstaff's switch to Leeds United has opened up a space in midfield at St James' Park, and McGinn has allegedly been identified by the Magpies as a leading target.
According to the Daily Mail, McGinn's 'reliability and character' appeal to Newcastle, with the 30-year-old viewed as the ideal addition in the current market.
Villa have allegedly already turned down interest from Everton in the Scotland international this summer, but there is a feeling that a sale could be sanctioned for the right price.
McGinn made the move to Villa Park from Hibernian in 2018, and he has represented his current side on 285 occasions, scoring 30 goals and registering 40 assists in the process.
Last season, the Scot managed four goals and six assists in 49 outings for Villa, including three goals and two assists in 10 appearances in the Champions League.

Brentford, West Ham 'considering' Sorloth move
Elsewhere, Brentford and West Ham United are reportedly considering making a move for Atletico Madrid forward Alexander Sorloth during this summer's transfer window.
The 29-year-old famously represented Crystal Palace in the Premier League between 2018 and 2020, but he only managed one goal in 20 appearances during a disappointing spell with the Eagles.
Sorloth has since reignited his career in Spain, scoring 26 goals in 41 appearances for Villarreal during the 2023-24 campaign before making the move to Atletico.
The Norway international scored 24 times in 53 appearances for Atletico last term, but there have been suggestions that he could be available for the right price this summer.
According to Fichajes, Atletico are open to a sale, which has attracted the attention of both Brentford and West Ham, but there are also believed to be a number of other clubs in the race.
Atletico are thought to want a transfer fee in the region of €25m (£22m) for the striker.
