Real Madrid are reportedly currently in 'active talks' with Gonzalo Garcia over a new contract at Bernabeu.
The 21-year-old was in excellent form for Los Blancos at the 2025 Club World Cup, scoring four times and registering one assist in six appearances, helping Xabi Alonso's side to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
Garcia had initially been expected to leave Bernabeu this summer in search of regular action, as he was restricted to just four first-team appearances for Real Madrid during the 2024-25 campaign.
However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the striker made such a huge impression on Alonso and his staff at the Club World Cup that a new contract is now being discussed.
Romano claims that Garcia could also be offered the legendary number nine shirt at Bernabeu for the new season.

Garcia 'in talks' over new Real Madrid contract
Garcia was in outstanding form for Real Madrid Castilla during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 25 goals and registering four assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.
The forward made three La Liga appearances last season, meanwhile, but his only senior domestic goal for Los Blancos has come in the Copa del Rey, netting against Leganes in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Alonso had been keen to bring a new striker to Bernabeu this summer to complement Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe in the final third of the field, especially as Rodrygo is also being heavily linked with an exit.
However, Garcia has seemingly done enough to convince his manager that he can play a leading role next season, as Real Madrid look to wrestle the La Liga title back from Barcelona.

Garcia 'in line' to be handed famous number nine shirt
Garcia could follow in the footsteps of some legends of the game if he is handed the number nine shirt at Real Madrid.
Indeed, Alfredo di Stefano, Hugo Sanchez, Ronaldo, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema are among the Los Blancos stars to have previously sported the famous jersey, while Kylian Mbappe was '9' last season.
Mbappe has now taken the iconic number 10 shirt, though, opening the door for Garcia to sport the famous jersey.
