Eagles’ Saquon Barkley explains current relationship with Giants, Joe Schoen

The “Hard Knocks” clip from last offseason showing the Giants’ front office debating whether to bring back Saquon Barkley went viral after the star running back signed with the division rival Eagles.

Barkley went on to rush for 2,005 yards and win a Super Bowl with Philadelphia after parting ways with New York.

Appearing on Pardon My Take this week, Barkley was asked if he hates the Giants.

“It’s funny because you would think from social media that there’s this big beef with me, (general manager) Joe Schoen, the Giants,” Barkley said.

“In reality, I still talk to them here and there. I got to see all of them before the game last year to end the season where I didn’t end up playing. … They were super happy for me for rushing for 2,000 yards the week prior. It’s a business. The NFL is a weird business, obviously. I’m not a fan of that side of it when it comes to the money side. But those guys were a big reason why I was able to get back.”

In Super Bowl LIX, Barkley rushed for 57 yards in the Eagles’ 40-22 win over the Chiefs. In his first regular season with Philadelphia, he rushed for 2,005 yards for 13 touchdowns on 345 carries. He finished third in MVP voting behind Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

In six seasons since the Giants selected him No. 2 overall in 2018, Barkley registered 5,211 rushing yards with 35 touchdowns as well as another 2,100 receiving yards with 12 touchdowns.
