Stephen Warnock says Liverpool have a player who will be even better than Mo Salah next season

Liverpool head into the 2025/26 season as Premier League title favourites.

Indeed, Arne Slot’s side dominated the league last year, and they’ve strengthened since with over £200m worth of new signings.

Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike have all joined a star studded cast at Anfield.

Virgil van Dijk is the best defender in the world according to some, while Mohamed Salah could win the Ballon d’Or this year.

Salah is a shoo-in for the PFA Player of the Year award this season, and the Egyptian will be looking to retain his award next season.

However, according to Stephen Warnock, speaking to This Is Anfield, Salah will lose his crown to one of his Liverpool teammates.

Alexis Mac Allister tipped for Premier League Player of the Year award

Warnock was asked to give a number of predictions about the upcoming Premier League season.

The pundit was initially asked to name who will win the Player of the Year award this year.

The former Liverpool ace scrambled for an answer before ultimately deciding that Alexis Mac Allister would win this award.

Mac Allister is criminally underrated as a player, but Warnock believes he will get the credit he deserves this season.

Midfielders to win Player of the Year

Mac Allister has been tipped to win the Player of the Year award, but he faced something of an uphill task here.

Indeed, the PFA Player of the Year award has been dominated by attack-minded players in recent years, and even when midfielders have won it, they have been players who rack up tons of goals and assists.

However, as N’Golo Kante showed at Chelsea, a more all-rounder of a midfield player can win this award, and Mac Allister could well be in the running this season.

The Argentine is one of the Premier League’s best players, so there’s no reason why he can’t be recognised as such next season.
