Everton are looking to recruit Sevilla right-back Juanlu Sanchez as their transfer window finally starts to take shape.

David Moyes‘ side have looked out of it in the summer window so far, with their business being minimal.

However, the Toffees are now pushing for new faces, with Jack Grealish among the more notable names linked.

Right-back is a priority for Moyes, and given their lack of depth in defence, Everton are pushing to sign Sanchez – though strong interest from Wolves remains.

Sanchez prefers move to Napoli over Premier League

Seamus Coleman has become a legend on Merseyside, though with his injury risk increasing, Everton have been in search of a new right-back.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Toffees had been hoping they could agree a deal to bring Sanchez to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, despite competition from Wolves and Napoli.

However, the print edition of ABC (7 August, page 55) claims that versatile defender would prefer a move to Italy than England.

In a piece that mentions Sanchez’s future “experiences a new chapter”, it adds that on Wednesday (6 August), the player went to Sevilla’s Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan offices to meet with the leaders, accompanied by his agents.

Sanchez reportedly conveyed his priority to join Napoli, despite a suitable offer being on the table from Wolves, while Everton’s interest is also noted in the report.

The Italian side have bid just shy of £15million for the Spaniard, which is below Sevilla’s asking price.

The 21-year-old would even prefer to stay in Seville than move to England, though he could be convinced, considering their uncomfortable financial status.

Sanchez is capable of playing in midfield as well as a right winger and would offer great depth and versatility to Moyes’ side.

Everton must move on from Sanchez

After Sanchez revealed his preferred destination, the Blues can’t afford to waste their time on the Spaniard.

Everton have already been caught up in battles for players who have failed to decide on where they want to go.

With more depth crucial for Moyes, after he lost Abdoulaye Doucoure and Jack Harrison at the end of last season, Everton must accelerate their transfer plans.
