Bilal El Khannouss talks, potential exits and the state of play with Leeds United's transfer…

Leeds United are steadfast in their stance that Mateo Joseph will only be loaned out this summer, barring an irresistible bloated bid for the want-away striker.

The 21-year-old is currently training away from the first team after handing in a transfer request and failing to join up with the squad during the week-long training camp in Germany last month.

Club sources have indicated that a resolution is expected to be reached by deadline day but that, at present, the situation remains unchanged - no firm advances from potential suitors have been made since Joseph told Daniel Farke of his wish to leave, specifically for Spain.

Real Betis are known to be interested, and submitted a failed bid in February. Leeds value the potential of Joseph and hope that a successful loan away will bolster his market price next summer.

Meanwhile, Leeds have held talks with Leicester City attacking midfielder Bilal El Khannouss over a transfer move. The 21-year-old only joined the Foxes from Belgian club Genk last August and still has three years left on his deal. It's thought Leicester want around £30million for the Morocco international.

Reports elsewhere suggest that El Khannouss would prioritise a Premier League move over an overseas switch, which would not be surprising given he realised his “dream” of playing in the English top tier last season. This would put Leeds in a strong position.

The situation with Rodrigo Muniz remains the same - Leeds are hoping that Fulham soften their selling stance should they acquire a new striker, with indications that the player’s camp has been receptive to talks.

Speculation linking Newcastle United with Muniz has been downplayed by sources close to the attacker situation at St James’ Park amid the Magpies' stand-off with Alexander Isak.

Full-back is now a concerted target area of reinforcement for Leeds given Isaac Schmidt’s likely exit this summer. Werder Bremen are interested in a loan but Leeds will not allow him to leave until they have found a replacement. The hunt for a full-back is ensuing.

Schmidt has been told by his national team boss that he will be in the Switzerland squad for next year’s World Cup if he gains regular club minutes. The player is aware that his game time next season could become even more limited than last term, having failed to start a Championship game since his arrival last August.

There has been no change to the ‘complicated’ situation with Jack Harrison, in that no bids or offers have come forward for the winger. Farke has left the door open to him staying and club staff have outlined his dedicated and focused attitude since arriving back at Thorp Arch.

High-ranking chiefs have pointed to his 170 games of Premier League experience as a valuable asset. He missed the friendly against Villarreal at Elland Road on Saturday due to a setback that was not thought to be significant.
