There's been so much talk about the Philadelphia Eagles being just a running offense, which helped them win the Super Bowl last year. Perhaps these latest rankings that have come out will show how balanced their offensive unit is.
CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin, along with four other writers, voted for the top 10 players at each offensive position in the NFL entering 2025. The Eagles were the only team that had at least one player in the top 10 at each position with six total players making the cut.
Jalen Hurts, QB (Seventh)
Saquon Barkley, RB (First)
A.J. Brown, WR (Fourth)
Dallas Goedert, TE (Seventh)
Lane Johnson, OL (Third)
Jordan Mailata, OL (Eighth)
Everyone must admit that the Eagles' offense is elite
Examining the Eagles' offense from last year, it was consistently known for being great on that side of the ball. They were ranked eighth in total offense, averaging 367.2 yards per game. The strength of this offense was running the ball, as they averaged 179.3 yards per game on the ground. They also added a seventh-place finish in points per game with 27.2.
All the criticism this offseason has been the lack of throwing the football as Hurts had under 370 attempts on the season. The Eagles averaged just 187.3 passing yards per game.
For the Eagles, it didn't matter whether they ran the ball or passed it, because they lost just three games all season and won the Super Bowl. The formula they used worked, but people don't like the old school way of playing football and always look for something to criticize.
There appears to be more pressure on the Eagles this year to throw the football so that Hurts can prove he is elite. It doesn't need to be like that because that's not how this offense runs. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

One significant aspect of this offense in 2025 is that 10 of the 11 starters are returning, which will only make this team more formidable with such continuity. The Eagles' offense is poised to improve even further in 2025.
